January 14th, 2019 PRESS RELEASE For immediate releaseRural issues become a priority with the creation of Rural Economic Development Ministry NICKEL BELT-GREATER SUDBURY – Following the Cabinet shuffle announcement by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau earlier today, Marc Serré, Member of Parliament for Nickel Belt issued the following statement: “As Chair of the National Rural Caucus I would like to commend the Right Honorable Justin Trudeau and the Government of Canada for hearing the concerns and feedback of Canadians and for taking action by creating the Rural Economic Development Ministry. This new Ministry will further grow the economy and create good middle-class jobs. 2021 Census of Population Dissemination ConsultationStatistics Canada is conducting a public consultation on the 2021 Census of Population from January 15 to March 31, 2019. We encourage you to participate in this online consultation and forward information about the consultation to other census data users. The online consultation questionnaire is designed to give data users an opportunity to provide feedback on dissemination strategies used for the 2016 Census of Population product and service line. Your feedback will help Statistics Canada measure user satisfaction and gather suggestions to provide input into the 2021 Census of Population dissemination product and service line and release strategy. Development group lands $1.1 million for mining centreThe Waubetek Business Development Corp. has received a key piece of funding to help them move forward with a Centre of Excellence for Indigenous Mineral Development. On Jan. 15, the federal government announced $1,131,913 from FedNor to help fund the project, which was launched in 2015. Click here for details.
NOW OPEN – Call for Applications for Canada's Volunteer Awards’ National Advisory CommitteeThe Government of Canada has launched a call for applications for the Canada’s Volunteer Awards' National Advisory Committee. The National Advisory Committee will be made up of 15 members that show passion and commitment in the field of volunteerism. I am seeking candidates with experience working or volunteering in the not-for-profit, charity and business sectors. Indigenous Peoples, women, persons with disabilities, visible minorities and other vulnerable groups are encouraged to apply. The Canada's Volunteer Awards' National Advisory Committee proudly represents Canada's cultural, linguistic and regional diversity.
