Dusk Dances brings together professional dancers from across Canada and local youth to mount an outdoor festival of contemporary and traditional dance in the public park in the centre of Haliburton Village.  Dusk Dances performances in Haliburton are co-produced by Dusk Dances Inc. and the Haliburton Sculptures Forest et al, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to increasing understanding and appreciation of the arts.

The event involves 28 local youth performers, 8 musicians and a number of choreographers who have been entertaining a total audience of around 2800 people.  Dusk Dances combines the skills and resources of professionals from outside the community with volunteers, and youth within the community.

Started in 2006, this community event builds capacity within local youth as well as promotes skills development in the arts.  Organizers recognize the importance of the arts and hope to increase awareness and appreciation for it within the community.  Dusk Dances has become quite the tourist draw as well; the outdoor performances draw significant audiences and raise the profile of the community as a centre of creativity.  Heading up the Haliburton spectacle are Daniela Pagliaro and Jim Blake.
