The Red Hill Project was started in 2005, in order to re-naturalize the Red Hill Valley Expressway green area through seeding/planting of indigenous species.  In 2006, it received funding from Two Rivers Community Development Centre and now employs 6 scientific advisors, 10 full time and 5 part time employees.  The people involved in the project have had consultations with Six Nations/Hamilton to resolve environmental concerns, optimized opportunities to six nations in establishing indigenous seed project and successfully negotiated a contract valued at 5 million dollars and reduction in contract security to 1 million dollars.  The long term benefit is that Six Nations Forestry will have a self-sufficient indigenous seed company called Creation of Ecological Centre of Excellence Potential Development.
