Brantford, Ontario February 17, 2005:  The Canadian Military Heritage Museum of Brantford and Brant County

Chair Rick Shaver accepts a cheque for $7,500 from Colleen E. Miller, President and Trevor Carre, Vice President and volunteers with Enterprise Brant, the local Community Futures Development Corporation (CFDC).  The funds will assist in funding the cost of a new sprinkler and alarm system, enabling the museum to re-open after its closure in the fall of 2004.

The Canadian Military Heritage Museum is a volunteer based organization supported by generous individuals and organizations.  Over the past 10 years this group has developed one of the largest Military Museums in Canada.  Volunteers host school tours, as well as local, national and international visitors from countries such as Britain, France, Germany, Poland, Holland, Italy and others.

“The museum is unique and represents the history of all military sectors including army, navy, and air force” says Rick Shaver.  “Many of the artifacts are donated or loaned to the museum and represent all eras dating from the United Loyalists period to current day peacekeepers.  The Museum also features a display of civilian and military motorcycles dating from 1926.”

The official re-opening of the Museum is March 1st, 2005.

Along with many other sponsors and community partners, Enterprise Brant is well known for their support of assisting business and community initiatives in Brantford and Brant County.  Enterprise Brant, the Brant CFDC, is one of 63 Community Futures Development Corporations in rural Ontario funded by Industry Canada’s Community Futures Program.  It delivers a wide variety of programs and services to support community and small business economic development.
