Garry McKinnon has been employed by the Atikokan Economic Development Corporation for the past 25 years.  He has worked as a Community Development Advisor and Investment Manager, and is now in the position of Executive Director.  Garry has been a member of the Atikokan Kiwanis Club since 1981 and has served in most capacities, including Club President.  He has also served as President of the Little Falls Curling Club, and Tournament Chair of the Little Falls Golf Club.  Garry is a Master Mason and Royal Arch Mason.

He was elected to the Atikokan Township Council in 1988 and was re-elected in each municipal election, until leaving politics in 2003.  As a Councillor, he chaired a number of committees, including finance, public works, parks and recreation and cemetery.  In 2000, he was elected as President of the Northwestern Ontario Municipal Association (NOMA) by his colleagues in the region.  As President of NOMA, he served as Vice-President of the Association of Municipalities of Ontario.  Garry served 2 years as President of the Northwestern Ontario Development Network.  He is married to his wife, Dawn; in their spare time, they love to travel or explore the many lakes and forests of north western Ontario.

Colleen Gouldson
 

Colleen Gouldson is the CEO at Nottawasaga Futures in Allison.  She joined the organization in 1998, before it was a CFDC.  She was hired to start their for-profit business NT Temps Inc.  Over the years, she has been involved in many other aspects of the organization, including the Human Resources Pilot Project with the Restigouche CBDC, human resource and business consulting, and Business Retention and Expansion Programs.

Prior to working with Nottawasaga Futures, Colleen was involved in the financial services industry as a Loans Officer. She is a self-professed yoga addict, and has a 100 pound bouvier who thinks he's a lap dog. She resides with her husband in Barrie.

Rob Price

Rob joined the Board of the CFDC of North & Central Hastings and South Algonquin in 2002.  Rob is Owner/Operator of the Spotted Dog B & B in Madoc Township since 2001.  He graduated from George Brown College in 1987 in Food and Beverage Management, and has hotel, catering and management training backgrounds.  Rob was partner, C.O.O. and Business Manager for the Willcam Group Limited - an IT Technology training company.

Since moving to Madoc, Rob has been involved in the community as President and Vice president of the Madoc and District Chamber of Commerce, Director on Pathways Foundation Board in Belleville (10 years), and formerly Secretary on the Board of Management of St. Peter's Presbyterian Church in Madoc.

Rob has been part of the Comfort Country Initiative since 2003, and has served as Director, Chair and Vice Chair.  He has participated and supported many local initiatives, such as the skate park, Mainstreets, the library building fund and, of late, the new medical centre.  He can be seen either haunting local yard sales or supporting a community fundraiser.

Shawn Heard
 

Shawn Heard has been the General Manager of the East Algoma Community Futures Development Corporation, an Industry Canada sponsored CFDC, since 2000.  Prior to that time, he was Program Manager for Human Ecology at the Elliot Lake Research Field Station of Laurentian University, working on community development issues in a number of locations throughout Canada.

Shawn holds a Diploma in Business Administration, an Honours B.A., a Master of Arts Degree in Canadian Heritage and Development Studies from Trent University, a Certificate in Economic Development from the University of Waterloo, and has completed the Small Business APEC Programme with Acadia University.

Shawn is also an active volunteer, currently sitting as an Executive member of the East Algoma Workforce Investment Corporation Board of Driectors, a member of the Sault Ste. Marie Innovation Centre ICT Committee, the Northern Ontario Youth Entrepreneurship Initiative Advisory Board, and acts as a Resource to the Elliot Lake Chamber of Commerce, the Elliot Lake Centre for Development, the Elliot Lake Economic Development Committee, the Blind River Development Corporation, and several other community based groups. Shawn is the Past Chair of the Northeastern Ontarion Development Network of CFDCs and a former President of the Ontario Healthy Communities Coalition, Shawn has been an active volunteer in a number of community sectors for over 30 years.

He lives in Elliot Lake with his wife Karina, and children Forrest, Marcus, Trent and Samuel.

Dianne Adshead

Dianne joined Valley Heartland CFDC Board of Directors in February 2010, after she retired from her position as Finance Manager with the Children’s Aid Society of the County of Lanark and The Town of Smiths Falls.  Her career included over twenty five years of senior management experience, primarily in financial services, developmental services, international development and health services, but also covered a wide variety of other occupations, such as:  ophthalmic technician; teacher; diplomatic services secretarial; dressmaker; and dietetics trainee with the Canadian Army. Dianne holds a professional designation as a Certified Management Accountant and Chartered Professional Accountant. 

Dianne and her self-employed husband, Gordon, live on a forty acre farmland property near Westport, where they love to watch the deer and wild turkeys and other wildlife.  Her other pleasures include reading, cooking, knitting, sewing, gardening, travel and keeping in touch with family.  Retirement has given Dianne the opportunity to serve her community in a volunteer capacity, in a very much more active role.

A retired human resource professional and a graduate of Cornell University, Dennis Shepitka joined the OACFDC board in September 2016.  He has served as a director with the LAMBAC CFDC Board since 2010 also participating as a member of the HR committee.  For four years, he is been a volunteer representative to the Northeast Development Network Planning Committee of CFDCs. Dennis is a past member of the board of Espanola Regional Hospital, having served on the Employee Relations Committee.  

Dennis is involved in his local community, as a member of the Espanola Lions Club, the Clear Lake Stewardship Association, and the Espanola Curling Club Executive. Dennis is married to Cheryl Kennelly and they have 2 grown children.

Mr. Ryan joined the CFDC as a member in 2010 and became a Director in 2011. He has served on all 5 standing committees and recently completed a 3-year tenure as Board Chair.

Over the past 20 years Mr. Ryan has developed a strong board governance background with not-for-profits and associations serving in various capacities from treasurer to president with the Renfrew County Family and Children’s Services, Renfrew County Adolescents, Lutherlyn Camp and Conference Centre and the Renfrew County Clerks and Treasurers Association.  He was the CAO for the Township of Laurentian Valley from 1978 to 2008.

Darrel lives in Pembroke with his wife Carol and has four grown children and six grandsons.

A retired farmer and a graduate of the University of Guelph, Mike Streib joined the OACFDC board in June 2012.  He has served as a Director with the Elgin Business Resource Centre (CFDC) Board since March 2005.  He has been on a number of committees within the board, including Audit, Loans, Governance and Community Economic Development.

Mike has also been a member of the board of Westminster Mutual Insurance since 1990, serving as Chair on three separate occasions.  He presently represents them as a Legislative Affairs member for the Ontario Mutuals Insurance Association.

As well, Mike is involved in his local community as a life member of the Kinsmen Club of Aylmer, Treasurer of Ducks Unlimited Committee in Aylmer, volunteer with United Way, former volunteer with the and Heart & Stroke Foundation, and Coach in the Minor Hockey and Minor Basketball leagues.

Mike is married to Brenda and they have three grown children and seven grandchildren.

Toronto born and educated, he enjoyed a successful career in the advertising, sales promotion and packaging business as VP of marketing and co-owner in a small business.  John and his family moved to Tillsonburg in 1979 as the McDonald’s Restaurant Franchisee.  His McDonald’s career expanded to Woodstock and Ingersoll, in 1987 and 1996 respectively.  During his McDonald’s career, John was recognized as Franchisee of the Year for Canada.  He chaired the Franchisee Insurance Program, the National Marketing Board, and the Ontario Marketing Board, and was a member of the Ronald McDonald Children’s Charities Board, representing Franchisees.

He has been very active in the community of over the years.  John was recognized with the Chamber Citizen of the Year Award in 1985.  He served as United Way of Oxford Campaign Chair, Chair of Children’s Aid Society, and President of Tillsonburg’s Chamber of Commerce.  Recently, John served as Mayor of the Town of Tillsonburg, Chair of the South Central Ontario Region Economic Development Corp and Chaired the Sand Plains Steering Committee.  He is committed to building strong small urban and rural economic communities across Ontario, and understands the importance of collaboration and partnerships to achieving success.

John is a proud recipient of The Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal, recognizing his contribution to his fellow citizens, his peers, his Community and his Country.  He received his medal in 2012.

John and his wife Liz, are blessed with two children and five grandchildren.  Both their boys operate small businesses in Oxford.  John enjoys all sports, reading, theatre and is a big Toronto Maple Leafs fan.
