March 01, 2004 - Media Release - for immediate release
Harrowsmith, ON - Ryan Seeds, Chair of the Frontenac Community Futures Development Corporation (FCFDC), is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Lance Gibson as Business Development Officer.  Having achieved an Honours Bachelor of Commerce Degree with a specialized Major in Agricultural Business from the University of Guelph, Mr. Gibson has both extensive rural economic development knowledge and expertise in business planning.  His experience most recently includes managing a large commercial and agricultural loans portfolio with the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, and prior to that, managing sales and production at a progressive agricultural retail sales outlet and grain elevator in Southwestern Ontario.  In his new role to help stimulate community and economic development throughout the Frontenacs, Mr. Gibson will provide free professional business consulting/advising and investment financing for start-up, growth, expansion or reorganization of small businesses.
Mr. Gibson is joined in this endeavour by Anne Prichard, Executive Director of Frontenac CFDC and Sue Theriault, Executive Assistant.  Lance invites both start-up and existing business owners to drop by or call him at 613-372-1414 Ext. 202 to arrange either an appointment at our office, or a site visit at their place of business, to discuss their specific opportunities in Frontenac County.
Run by a volunteer Board of Directors and funded through Industry Canada, the Frontenac CFDC was established to encourage individuals and organizations in the Frontenacs to identify opportunities for development and growth in the local economy, as well as enhancing the communities it serves.  Our office is located at 4917 Hwy 38 in the Village of Harrowsmith in South Frontenac, and is open for business Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
CFDCs are catalysts for action, connecting people with opportunities and offering them the tools with which to create local prosperity.  Nationwide, they have been remarkably successful in achieving these goals.
