Research Project: Community Futures investment in Social Enterprise
The Community Futures Network of Canada (CFNC) has secured funding through the Government of Canada, Employment and Social Development Canada, to conduct research into the Social Finance needs of Social Purpose organizations in rural communities.
The research approved is intended to understand why CFOs are not funding more social purpose organizations and what gaps or challenges exist in supporting these organizations (related to providing access to capital and business support services). Specific research objectives include:
1. To assess the demand for financial assistance by social purpose organizations in rural Canada;
2. To assess the perceived barriers of social entrepreneurs in accessing financial assistance and business support in rural Canada; and,
3. To conduct a literature review highlighting programs and services available to social purpose organizations and entrepreneurs in rural Canada.
Community Futures Ontario has been asked to encourage our members to respond to the survey and to collect as many responses as possible.
The deadline to complete the survey is May 6th and the survey is available with the following link: https://fr.surveymonkey.com/r/F96YJBT

MEMBER NEWS
Membership dues and back-up staff
Your membership renewals have been emailed and e-transfers are being accepted. A reminder to health and RSP participants to visit Desjardins and Manulife for updates on their services/offerings during COVID-19. (More detailed information further down in the newsletter.)
We continue to be inspired by the many creative ways your offices are working with clients to assist them, and the ways you are innovating to help in the broader fight against COVID-19.
We are always honoured to serve your offices and we are especially honoured at this time.
COVID-19 and back up staff
This extraordinary time may present an opportunity to connect with former and/or retired employees that may be able to step in remotely throughout the province. CF office staff numbers vary greatly and some may require additional assistance with the influx of clients, even if it is from a distance.
Please forward any of these contacts to us so we can create a database of accessible temporary staff, with CFDC experience, for members to draw from, should the need arise.

COVDI-19 and Valeyo
Valeyo sent a document to credit insurance participants which speaks to the following:
1. E-Transfers – Some CF’s asked if they could e-transfer monthly remittance payments to us as they are not having their directors sign off on cheques at the moment, so we have included the form and instructions for setting this up.
2. Loan Deferral – Explanations on how this works, how to process and contacts if you have questions.
3. Electronic Signatures – We can accept electronic signatures for new insurance applications!
The instructions are included in the document on our website here.(You must be signed in as a member to download and view.)
Also, a reminder that all participating CFs need to take the 2 courses on the Learning Management System. There is no deadline, but the courses should be completed within the year. It’s a great review of information and doesn’t take long to complete!
