2019 Conference: Register now!Registration is live!! This year we've partnered with EconoUS and CCEDNET for the ultimate conference experience. Be sure to register promptly for earlybird savings and to reserve a spot on your favourite tour - space is limited! Our lineup for tours this year includes: 1) Taking the World by Ice Storm: Hensall, Ontario is not exactly the hub of industry in North America, but time after time, customers contact this progressive company based in a small town in the heart of southwestern Ontario. Welcome to Iceculture! They will be discussing how Community Futures Huron and the BIA successfully create on-going strategic plans to help develop Exeter and the greater region as a full-service gateway to Ontario’s west coast. 2) Local Food Culture – Sustainability: Taste and experience, the flavours of Oxford as you day-cruise through the county in comfort with Ride the Bine. Lunch will be accompanied by a guest speaker from Future Oxford, set to enlighten us on how the distinct actions set out by the Sustainability Plan have fostered the county’s shared vision to live off Oxford’s environmental and economic resources, while creating growth and communal well-being. 3) Catching Live Shrimp in Elgin County!: CFDC Innovation Award Winner of 2018, Planet Shrimp, invites you to visit their innovative facilities located in Elgin County. You will see their shrimp production process up close and have your taste buds delighted by samples of their mouth-watering shrimp, provided and sponsored by Elgin Business Resource Centre, who will also be providing a tour of the Elgin Innovation Centre. 4) Growing London’s Youth: Greenhouse Academy was conceived from the need for practical learning opportunities, environmental stewardship and community building. A visit here will include a tour of the nurseries and will focus on how bridging the generation gap through involving the youth, emphasizing collaboration and bettering the environment can be merged to better the community as a whole. 5) Tour Alternative: Community Futures Leadership Institute Board Training: If you prefer to opt out of going on one of the tours, this is for you! Consider taking a Community Futures Leadership Institute course in the comfort of Innovation Works (10-minute walk from the Convention Centre). Social innovation & Social Finance StrategyTo encourage innovative approaches to address Canada’s most persistent and complex social problems, the Government of Canada is working with key partners to implement the foundational elements of a Social Innovation and Social Finance Strategy (SI/SF). On June 12, 2019, the Government of Canada announced some of the key partners that will help implement the Investment Readiness Program. The Government will work with select partners to invest $50 million over two years to help social purpose organizations become investment-ready and access the new Social Finance Fund, set to launch in 2020.
Salary Survey ReminderThe annual salary survey for CFDCs is now available. Managers will be asked to input information on 2018 salaries. We need everyone’s participation to make the survey results valid. A “manager’s level” password is needed to enter the area on the CF Ontario website to input the survey information. The survey results offer valuable information for budgeting and business planning. Everyone who finishes the survey before 4pm June 28th, 2019 will have their name entered in a draw to win free registration and accommodation for two nights at the 26th Annual Conference! Accomodations will be at a hotel in London, Ontario, September 16-18 (valued at over $700). Be assured that we cannot see the data you have entered - it is blended with all the other data to ensure an individual’s privacy. But we do have access to a list of names of those CFDCs which have responded, which we throw into a hat to draw a winner! Please click on the below link to respond to the survey. You must be logged into the website under your manager's user id to access the survey.
