Minister Navdeep Bains with Wendy Smitka, Helene Deslauriers and Ron Trepanier – Sept 21, Ottawa
Excerpt from report by Wendy Smitka, CFNC President The representation committee of the Community Futures Network of Canada had a successful meeting with Minister Bains. The Minister indicated “you have friends in caucus” which suggests CFDC advocacy efforts at the local level are paying off. The meeting ended with a request to strike a task force of CFNC representatives and the Regional Development Agencies to modernize the CF Program to maximize our potential. While in Ottawa, the committee also met with MP Marc Serre, vice chair of the National Rural Caucus and MP David Lemetti, parliamentary Secretary to Minister Bains. Both strong supporters of the CF Program.
A more detailed copy of Wendy’s report, is available to CF Ontario members here: Full Report Western Ontario CFDC Association has allowed Community Futures Ontario to adapt their whiteboard video for use throughout the province. Special acknowledgement to Jim Niesen who wrote the original script. CF Ontario has reproduced two versions in English – one for CFDCs who promote loans of $150,000 and another for those who promote loans of $250,000. The video shows the provincial website link and toll free roll over phone number (1-866-668-2332) that redirects calls to the CFDC in the caller’s phone exchange. Members can download the videos from our Website -> Communications Resources -> Whiteboard Videos and use them on your own website or social media posts. French versions are underway.
